BORNEO
Borneo is the third largest island in the world. The island is divided between three countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, and Brunei. Approximately 73% of the island is Indonesian territory.

Indonesians refer to the island as Kalimantan, meaning "burning weather island," or island with a very hot temperature, referring to its hot and humid tropical climate. Kalimantan is split between five provinces: West Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, and Central Kalimantan.
WILDLIFE
Orangutans are great apes native to the rainforests of Indonesia and Malaysia.
INDIGENOUS PEOPLE
There are over 200 native ethnic groups on Indonesian Borneo that fall under the name Dayak, each with their own dialect, customs, laws, territory, and culture.
PEATLANDS
Peat swamp forests occur where waterlogged soils prevent dead leaves and wood from decomposing.
